Based on a true story, the tale of an ex-prizefighter longshoreman played by Brando, he tries to overthrow a corrupt union and their mob-connected boss. Winning eight Oscars in 1955 including best picture, director, and best actor for Brando’s powerful performance, where he mutters the immortal line, “I coulda been a contender.”
